Dream Incubation for Greater Self-Awareness: A Handbook
By Kelly Lydick
Kelly Lydick’s Dream Incubation for Greater Self-Awareness: A Handbook is a guide for readers looking to explore their dreams and their deeper meanings. Lydick explains that dreams are incredibly complex, often used to process emotions and daily life. Dreams are windows into our subconscious, mirrors of who we truly are.
Lydick let the research speak for itself throughout the entirety of the book; she did not force her opinion because that is not the purpose of the guide. I found that aspect, the understanding that the research merely needs to be presented and explained, not argued, incredibly refreshing, as well as the fact that Lydick continually called upon the reader to form their own opinions on the subject. It required a lot more self-reflection and deep thought than if she had presented her conclusions as fact.
I enjoyed that Lydick included historical information on ancient cultures that had practiced Dream Incubation techniques. I liked this because I feel as though, in modern spirituality, many authors tend to ignore the fact that their practices were used by civilizations centuries ago. The fact that Lydick went out of her way to include information on these civilizations was appreciated.
I would recommend this book to anyone because Dream Incubation is something that anyone can do. Dream Incubation for Greater Self-Awareness provides a wonderful description of the process, incredibly detailed and with substantial evidence to support every action.
